FOUNDER & CEO

Thandiwe Mlauli is the founder and CEO of Studio Yezi, one of the first Black women to independently establish an animation studio in South Africa. A producer, writer, director, and illustrator, Thandiwe holds a BFA in Producing for Film & TV from the New York Film Academy.

Passionate about heartwarming stories and diverse voices, she collaborates with emerging talent worldwide, championing inclusion and shaping the future of African animation.

 

HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT

 AJ Pitre is Studio Yezi’s Head of Development and a Writer-Producer driving the studio’s creative vision. With a BFA in Producing from the New York Film Academy and a unique background as a former dancer and army veteran, AJ brings fresh perspective and versatility to storytelling.

Currently pursuing a Master’s in Animation in San Francisco, he develops bold, immersive stories while nurturing talent. An avid gamer, AJ draws inspiration from worlds like Assassin’s Creed and The Witcher, fueling his creativity and vision.
